Buglers Holiday – US Coast Guard Band

This is from a Christmas concert some years ago, where the band played Buglers Holiday as part of the program. The three trumpet players are Dave Curry, Carroll Potts, and Greg Martin.

@mgerstung your kidding right? theres a b flat, (NOT concert) i dont recall having those in taps.

Just beautiful!!! Thanks for postingl.

amazing!

This was played by military musicians on holiday. It is based on the 4 notes used to play “Taps”.

The middle school band director in our town just had his retirement party–did the Mr. Holland’s Opus thing; had a bunch of his former students come and play a concert together–and a bunch of the trumpet players, including him, played this. It was amazing and great and gave me chills. :) this is excellent!

played this as a freshmen in high school =D

Buglers Holiday is a great piece and fun to play The hard part is keeping all the double tounging together in the three trumpet solo parts.

amazing double tonguing!

fantastic performance…. great tone, articulation and balance from the soloists. also love the long phrase lengths and the sense of one in a bar…. have you heard my version for 12 trumpets? ORICHALCUM 1

AMAZING!!!!

we played this is our spring concert just a few days ago!!! it sounded so awesome. whats really ironic tho is that my orchestra teacher says he was in the coast guard and he also plays the trumpet. :D

this is amazing those trumpets are great

Terrific double tonguing. I can play this piece also and it is just a definitive masterpiece. Bravo

@banilla16
lol, yea, we are playing this for the solo and ensamble next year for 1st division. i pretty much got it down, its really fun

My high school band is playing this! It’s an incredible blast to play!! XD

Yes, clearest tonguing of all heard tonight–about ten. Excellent.

Our high-school band is playing this. I wish it sounded this good :o

@ibanez195
Doesn’t mean they play it well. I hate comments like this.

My band is gonna play this peice on the Mayerson in Dallas Tx and the trumpets playing this are really good no joking they are almost like these guys except we are in junior high

I play the flute and im in 9th grade and i hate all of the dang runs…..they are so annoying

Have played this 3 outta my 4 years in high school and have done all the parts lol. Very fun piece to play, though the DT can get a bit tricky its actually not so hard to learn. Getting 3 players that can do it equally well is another matter ;P. Heres a tip, try humming/singing your part to yourself and double tongue, it gives essentially the same result for practice.

And its safer to practice while driving :Þ

@marine882 i’m in tenth grade right now, planning on be the first part, it is easy, its just getting it together is the difficult part.

sick! we are playing that next year for our concert, my two good friends and I are going to practice a good bit this summer and try to do it from memory next year. STOKED. perfect double tonguing BTW

Probably one of the best versions ever!

Congratulations to our USCG Band.
