No one loves the cold months better than acerbic fat cat Garfield, who thrives on a bounty of junk food and traditional meals in the delightful collection of musical-comedy TV specials Garfield Holiday Celebrations. “Garfield’s Halloween Adventure” finds the portly hero and airhead-sidekick Odie the dog scrounging through owner Jon’s attic to find perfect costumes, then encountering ghosts and ghoulies that seem a tad authentic. “Garfield’s Thanksgiving” is a screwball special in which Jon harasses veterinarian Liz into being his Turkey Day guest. Trouble is, Jon is clueless about how to cook a big bird; fortunately, starving Garfield has the good sense to call in Jon’s spirited grandmother for a culinary rescue. Grandma shows up, too, in “A Garfield Christmas,” about a family get-together that covers all the nice holiday stuff and, of course, lots of bickering, pouting, and jealousy. As long as Garfield gets his Yuletide lasagna, however, all is right with the world. –Tom Keogh

I just received the “Holiday Celebrations” DVD and was terribly disappointed with the quality of the animation. I ordered this DVD and The “Travel Adventures” DVD after watching “Garfield: The Movie” and “A Tale of Two Kitties. I couldn’t believe how realistic the animation was in those two movies and I was expecting similar quality in the other two DVDs. I haven’t received “Travel Adventures yet, but when I do I don’t plan to even open it. I’ll just donate it to a local library. Garfield the Movie and A Tale of Two Kitties was superb. I give it A+. Holiday Celebrations was mediocre at best. I give it C.

The episodes on the DVD are great, but the DVD will NOT play on my DVD player, which is 5 years old. I have brand new DVDs that play with no problem, and DVDs that are older than the player itself that play just fine. My guess is that something is wrong with this particular DVD. I have never had this problem before.

I LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOVVVVVVVVVEE

this DVD. Again, here are the epoisodes and thier stories.

Note: This is alphabitacal order.

Garfields X-mes: Garfield, Jon, and odie, all go down to the farm Jon was raised and celabrate x-mes they have for 6 years.

Garfield in duesguise: Garfield goes out trick – or – triting with odie. (That way he can get lots of Candy, candey, candey, candey.) But he ends up with ghost pirates.

Garfields thanksgiving: Garfield is forced go on a diet right on thanksgivingday. With Jons aunt making the food, anything can happen.

I dont know why they gave a total of Garfields thanksgiving 2/6.2 stars. I gave Garfield as himself (Like I told you on the title.) 4/25.97 stars, But 5 stars for this since it dosent have a dumb preview for that stupid Robots movie. YEHHHH-HAHHHH.

While Garfield’s holiday specials may never equal thePeanuts classics. They do have an endearing charm, all unto themselves. Garfield’s Christmas is the most heart tugging of all three specials. Who hasn’t chocked up during the final scenes, when Garfield delivers a special letter to Grandma. Its truly worth the price for the dvds. I can’t wait to see them again and again.

This disc only has three episodes on it, one for Halloween, Thanksgiving and Christmas. Each episode is good, but some of the later Garfield episodes from the series were better. Still, not bad, and you can watch it one episode per month beginning in October!
